At Holtspur we believe learning happens everywhere, not just in classrooms. Our enrichment offer is designed so every pupil can discover new interests, build skills and grow in confidence. Rooted in our values - Caring, Inspiring, Achieving - enrichment is an essential part of the curriculum that supports personal development, cultural awareness and aspiration for all children.

What we offer:

Wide range of extra‑curricular clubs (after school and at lunchtime) covering sport, music, cooking, coding, gardening, lego, art, mindfulness and more.

Topic‑linked enrichment days: immersive days that bring curriculum themes to life (Chinese New Year day, Toys workshop, Egyptian day, Victorian day, Black History month workshops, etc).

Inspirational speakers and role models: visits from local and national figures (for example, Paralympian Ian Rose), careers guests and community leaders to broaden pupils’ horizons.

Whole‑school cultural and creative experiences: Maypole dance workshops, Diwali dance workshops, year group performances and school‑wide music and arts projects.

Hands‑on science and discovery: live science shows, visiting scientists, and an in‑school planetarium to make science memorable and accessible.

Regular visits and residentials: museum trips, outdoor learning and annual visits to places of worship to develop cultural capital and understanding. Year 6 pupils travel to the River Dart for a 4-night residential, building confidence and independence as they prepare for transition.

Community and parent talks: parents and local volunteers share skills, careers and life experiences as part of our planned programme.

Wider life‑skills activities: cooking, oracy, Holtspur acts of kindness, coding clubs, mini-enterprise and practical STEM enrichment.

How we make enrichment inclusive:

We remove financial and practical barriers so that every pupil can participate - with subsidised places, equipment provided, and travel support where needed.

We plan provision with SEND needs and pupil premium priorities in mind so enrichment is accessible; adults support participation and reasonable adjustments are made.

Participation is tracked so we can identify pupils who miss out and offer targeted opportunities to broaden their experiences.

We encourage pupil voice in shaping the programme so children help design the activities they want to take part in.
