It has been an absolute joy to come to school and see your lovely children so engaged with our Learning Outside the Classroom day. They have focused on: having a healthy body by making a rainbow fruit salad in food tech using knives to cut up fruit; thought about looking after the environment and completing a speedy litter pick; plus going outside to sketch nature including buttercups and clover for their mental health.
In the afternoon we started making our contribution to the Scarecrow Trail, we made the ants and leaves from The Highway Rat from as much clean recycling we could scavenge from every class around the school. The ants are taking shape and the children had a blast scrunching up hundreds of pieces of paper (and newspaper brought in from home…or, as I have reliably been informed, other people’s recycling boxes en route to school – very funny!).
When I asked the children about their favourite part of the day I had the loveliest quote from a child who said ‘All of it, I really can’t choose the best bit, it was all great’.
