Our RE curriculum fosters respect, tolerance and understanding, supporting the promotion of British Values. Through exploring diverse beliefs and worldviews, children learn how to participate positively in a multi‑faith, multicultural society, engaging with ideas about meaning, identity, values and what it means to be human.

We believe that RE should be vibrant, enquiry‑based and experiential. Each year, pupils take part in a visit to a different place of worship, giving them meaningful first‑hand experiences of faith communities. By the time they leave Holtspur, children will have visited most of the major religious sites represented locally or regionally, such as churches, mosques, gurdwaras, temples and synagogues. These experiences deepen understanding, develop empathy, and strengthen children's sense of connection to the wider community.

Our curriculum enables pupils to learn about religion and worldviews—exploring beliefs, practices, texts, traditions and forms of expression—and also learn from religion by reflecting on their own values, ideas and experiences. We encourage curiosity and open‑minded enquiry, enabling children to ask thoughtful questions and develop an aptitude for dialogue.

By the end of their primary journey, children at Holtspur will be knowledgeable, reflective and respectful young citizens. They will have developed religious literacy, an informed understanding of global and local diversity, and the ability to engage confidently with others in a thoughtful and compassionate way.
