A word about press ups :
If your child cannot maintain a completely straight back and appears to be straining, please advise they come onto their knees. Keeping wrists in line with their shoulders so that the weight is going onto their arms. Dipping in the lower back can lead to injury. Wall press-ups are a great and safer alternative!

A word about lunges :
It is important to ensure that there is a straight line between knee and ankle when stepping forwards. Do not allow the knee to cave inwards.
It is often easier to do a backwards lunge and holding on to the wall will help improve technique whilst learning

Important Information for Monday 23.3.20
Sun 22 Mar 2020Important Message for Monday 23rd March
The school has been asked to remain open for a small number of children and so we will be operating with a minimal number of staff. Only parents that make contact with the school should bring their children to school and only if there is no other means of keeping those children at home. Parents working as designated key workers and children with EHCPs may be able to ensure their child is kept at home, and every child who can safely be cared for at home, should be. This is to support us in protecting the safety of our children and staff.
Kind Regards,
Senior Leadership Team
Please follow this link to access the eligibility guidance issued to the school. Many thanks.

Holtspur Community Mutual Aid - response to Covid-19
Tue 17 Mar 2020'Holtspur Community Mutual Aid' has been set up to co-ordinate support for those in Holtspur who are in need or feeling isolated. The model is to localise support and enable streets to self-manage as far as possible. We are asking people to consider becoming reps to access and provide practical and social support for the residents on their street.
We have been in contact with Better Connected who are a charity who have linked up with the Council / GP surgeries / Churches in order to co-ordinate and deliver a strategic plan for helping vulnerable people and put safeguarding in place. In order to have one central place of organisation Better Connected have put out an online volunteer form and are populating a database of volunteers.
If anyone would like to volunteer to represent and support the residents on their street, please fill in this form. BCB have said they will make direct contact today with those of you who kindly sign up and will offer guidance and fliers.
We will keep you all updated of any news as we get via facebook but in the meantime please do feel free to continue to share thoughts, concerns, seek and offer help and touch base as you would like.

Corona Virus Update from Mr Hoff
Fri 13 Mar 2020Dear Parents
As you will be aware the Government have decided to keep schools open for the time being.
The issue schools now have is a staffing crisis in the face of self-isolation guidance from Public Health England.
The corona virus may well lead to a situation in schools where the percentage of the staff infected and self-isolating mean that it is unsafe to open.
We will do all we can to remain open but families must be prepared for a school closure due to staff shortages.
Of course if the Government make the decision, in line with other European nations, to close school and universities, Holtspur will have no choice but to close for the period stipulated. The teachers are busy putting together work to be available via the school website in case of closure.
I thank you all for your understanding in this uncertain time.
As ever please feel free to talk to me if you have any concerns.
Yours sincerely
Nigel Hoff
Interim Headteacher
