    Activity Village Summer Learning Hub

    https://www.activityvillage.co.uk/summer-learning-hub

    What's the idea?

It's themed. Each week for six weeks there will be a new theme, starting with The Seaside in week 1, 19th July.

It's sorted by (previous) School Year. We start with Early Years (age 3-4) and go up to Year 6 (age 10-11).

It's designed to keep brains ticking! We'll refresh some of the skills that children will have learned over the previous year with suggested resources covering

    • maths
    • reading
    • writing
    • crafts
    • puzzles
    • colouring
    • and more!

Different ages? No problem! If you have children of different ages, there will be similarities between the activities so that you can enjoy them together.

There will be lots new! Some of the suggested activities will be existing resources, others will be brand new.

Each week will be opened up on the Sunday before it, starting with ...

    Sunday 19th July!

Why not visit now and bookmark the page!

    Activity Village Membership ...

Members now have access to over 36,000 printable activities. We add resources nearly every day so there's always a reason to visit the website, explore and download! If you haven't joined up yet, why not become a member now

    A Little Something ...

Some of our favourite Nelson Mandela quotes:

"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."

"Do not judge me by my successes, judge me by how many times I fell down and got back up again."

"Your playing small does not serve the world. Who are you not to be great?"

"There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to help others without expecting anything in return."

"A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination."

"You can start changing our world for the better daily, no matter how small the action."

  • Virtual Summer Reading Challenge Launch Asembly - The Silly Squad!

    Sat 04 Jul 2020

This weeks assembly is from Mrs Blackmore launching the new reading challenge from your library -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt4s-dsVV7A

    Re: Summer Reading Challenge
    The Silly Squad

With the disruption caused by COVID-19 and the impact of social distancing on schools and public libraries, The Reading Agency are delivering the 2020 Summer Reading Challenge online. This is a fantastic opportunity to keep children reading over the summer holiday. There is so much for the children to enjoy through the website as well as completing the reading challenge. We know that finding books to read for your Summer Reading Challenge won’t be as easy as popping into the library. Although library buildings are closed at the moment, libraries can still help you find books to read through their virtual services and e-lending platforms. https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/how-to-access-books

    How to Sign up:

    ● Children sign up to the website (an adult will also need to create an account to support this process) and create their own profile at www.sillysquad.org.uk (Check the home Zone on the website for full instructions)

    ● They set their own challenge to read any number of books, with children being encouraged to read anything that makes them happy – whether it be comics, joke books, poetry, fiction or non-fiction; in digital or print format; from e-book lending through the public library service or from what they already have at home.

    ● Each time they finish a book, they add it to their profile and write a review. They are rewarded with activities and incentives along the way, such as online badges, games and videos.

    ● Families are encouraged to join in and ‘Get Silly’ with downloadable activities, games, quizzes and more. With new content to enjoy each week, the fun will continue throughout the summer to keep you engaged.

    ● They receive a downloadable certificate once they’ve completed their challenge!

Happy Reading and we look forward to seeing your Certificates in September!

  • Home Learning w/b 1st June ...

    Sun 31 May 2020

Welcome back - we hope you have enjoyed half term and the fantastic weather! This week the whole school will all be looking at a book called The Quest in English, it is a follow up to a book that the we all focused on early in the spring term called Journey by the same author. We also thought we would focus on LOtC for our topic activities and enjoy the same things to do as a school. Years 2, 3, 4 & 5 will be following at home whilst those in school will be looking at it there.

We look forward to seeing the results using the Seesaw app for those at home - don't loose your text code once received as you will need it to login each time to the app!
