  • The Art of Brilliance - are you a 2% or a mood hoover?

    Fri 20 Oct 2017

On the 16th October we went to a pupil conference in Aston Clinton. The conference was about the Art of Brilliance! Two men named Paul Field and Mark Russell explained how to be the best person you could be. They talked about what a 'mood hoover' and a '2%' was. A mood hoover is someone who makes everyone feel sad and unhappy and remains in their comfort zone and a 2%er is someone who is positive, happy and always has a smile on their face - they do random acts of kindness and take responsibility for their actions! We were really inspired by the presentation, we will be sharing our experience with the school over the next few weeks with the message.

  • Training for our Junior Road Safety Officers ...

    Fri 20 Oct 2017

We went to Aylesbury to take part in a JRSO Funday. We participated in many events such as speech writing, road safety quiz and spotting the lorry driver's blind spot to name just a few. It was really fun and we are inspired to learn more about road safety and also want to encourage people to walk to school and be healthy!

  • Cross Country results ...

    Fri 13 Oct 2017

Congratulations to our amazing cross country runners who competed so well last Saturday.

    Year 5

Our Year 5 girls team showed wonderful sportsmanship by helping each other around the course so that all finished in good shape. Eliza finished in the top half of the field.

Y5 boys - all boys finished remarkably well, with George coming in 11th out of a field of  87 runners!

Y6 Girls - were very strong contenders - all 4 finished in the first 21 places, with Joanna in 10th place and Ollie in 12th! As a result of the effort made by all,  we came 3rd as a team , behind two much larger schools.

Y6 boys - Ben represented the school admirably, coming in 14th place overall.

Overall, 14 schools took part in the event with between 70 and 90  runners in each category.

  • Thank you to everyone who has supported the PTA ...

    Fri 06 Oct 2017

Thank you to everyone who has supported the PTA over the last year, we hope you have had fun participating in the events and raising lots of money for our kids.

We are delighted to have raised enough over the past 12 months to give the school over £12,000 to invest in an array of amazing playground equipment, which will be used by our children on a daily basis (things such as creative drawing trail, games tables, permanent goals and netball posts, den building equipment, music instruments, staging for role-play etc).

A big thank you goes to Mrs Meyer and the school council who have worked so hard on this project to bring life back into the playground and understand what children need from the area of play both for development and community.

We don’t want to spoil the surprise so there is a sneak peek image below of some of the exciting and fun items that are on their way and how pleased the children will be to play with these.

With your support, the PTA raised over £17,000 last year and this is how we did it.

    Wine Tasting: £1,340

    Christmas Fair: £2,650

    Christmas Cards: £510

    Quiz Night: £1,120

    Sponsored Bounce: £2,090

    May Fair: £3,550

    Movie Night: £1,370

    Fun Food Fridays: £700

    Donations/Grants: £4,000 (£3,000 last year, £1,000 this year)

    Football Tournament: £470 (this year)

As you know, we continue to support the school and provide the extras that our children need so we are now working hard to raise about £15,000 for new PCs in the ICT suite. We know this is within our reach and we look forward to working with you to create further fun events and lasting memories over the coming year.

  • School Improvement - Behind the Scenes!

    Fri 06 Oct 2017

During the summer, the school was a hive of activity while the building work was being finished. You will have seen the installation of the outside area of Pre-School, which is being thoroughly enjoyed by the children. Inside, we have purchased new resources for the Pre-School and new classrooms.

We have updated our touch screens with new smart boards being fitted into Year 4, both Year 1 classes, the ARP and Year 2. The IT cabling in the entire school has been updated and wireless points have been installed to enable smooth and fast internet connections.

New point of use water heaters have been installed in the children's toilets and new mixer valves have been put into the sinks in classrooms and corridors, so the temperature of the water remains constant and does not get too hot.

There have been several changes of rooms - we have a new MI (Medical Intervention) room and new office for Mrs Meyer, Mrs Gates and Mrs Van Baars. We are enjoying life in school without builders again!
