  • School Meals - Taster session 6th February

    Fri 26 Jan 2018

As of Monday 16th April our school will no longer be using Cygnet Catering/Chartwells for our school meals. Instead we will be using ‘Innovate’.

Innovate are a national school catering company, however they have a hub which is run from The Beaconsfield School. The food will be freshly cooked each day at The Beaconsfield School and delivered to our school.

    They will provide:-

    • Plenty of variety with a three week cycle menu
    • Full nutritional standards
    • Local, fresh, seasonal ingredients
    • Free from colourants or preservatives food
    • Meals for those with special dietary needs

Innovate will be coming to our school to provide a tasting session for parents. We encourage all parents to come along to this session and sample their food on Tuesday 6th February following the ‘MindUp’ session at 6.00 pm.

Further information on menus and booking options will follow in due course.

  • Mind Up Presentation @ 6pm - 6th February

    Fri 26 Jan 2018

On Tuesday 6th February at 6.00 pm, Claire Farrell who some of you know from our Growth Mindset work, will be leading a session to explain the principles of MindUp and how we are rolling out the programme with your children. It will be a fascinating talk with lots of useful ideas that can be used at home to help with your child’s wellbeing. The session will last approximately 1¼ hours and it will be followed by ‘Innovates’ food tasting session.

We are very pleased with the impact that we are already seeing in classrooms and are really looking forward to sharing the programme with you.

Please return the reply slip in your child’s bookbag to give an indication of numbers. Thank you.

  • Sponsored Ready Steady Read ...

    Fri 12 Jan 2018

    Dear Parents/Guardians

To encourage a lifelong love of reading at home and school, we will be running a school sponsored read between Monday 15th to Sunday 21st January.

The project is being organised in conjunction with our local Usborne Representative, Lisa Colley, and all the money raised will go towards brand new books for our school.

In addition to the sponsorship money, Usborne will donate up to 60% of the total raised in EXTRA FREE BOOKS to the school. So if we raise £600, we will get an extra £360 in FREE Usborne books!

Please help us to enhance our reading resources for pupils by encouraging your child to spend a small amount of time each day either reading to themselves, to others, or being read to. They can read anything with words (for example comics, recipes, magazines) for as long or as little as they like.

Should you wish to support our sponsored read, please find enclosed a sponsorship form for your child, which includes a reading log to record the minutes they have spent reading.

After the sponsored read, please send all the sponsorship money that your child has raised to the school by Friday 26th January.

Cheques should be made payable to Lisa Colley.

Please support our sponsored read so that your child has more books to read, share and enjoy.

    Bike Security/Marking

PCSO Denise Hawkes from Beaconsfield Neighbourhood Team will be coming to school on Tuesday 16 January and Thursday 18 January from 2.30pm to 3.45pm to carry out bike marking. If you would like your child’s bike marked, please bring them to school on these days. They can be put in the school bike racks or bring them when you collect your child. Please fix a label onto your child’s bike with your house number and postcode. When they have been labelled, you will be able to register them on line. Details of how to do this will be given when they have been marked.

  • MindUp Programme

    Fri 05 Jan 2018
On Wednesday, a wide range of our staff had training in the ‘MindUp’ Programme. This is a whole school programme designed to help children develop ways to think more positively, be able to respond to situations by thinking rather than reacting irrationally and improve their focus and engagement in school. Over the next week, classes will be introduced to the first three lessons which focus on understanding how the brain works, being able to focus attention and being mindful. Claire Farrell, who some of you may remember from our work on ‘Growth Mindset’ is delivering the training and a session for parents and interested parties on the evening of 6th February. More details to follow.
