Odd Socks Day Friday 15th November
Fri 15 Nov 2024Anti-Bullying Week 2024 takes place from Monday 11th – Friday 15th November with the theme ‘Choose Respect’. Next week children will be reflecting on what makes us all unique and how we can show kindness to everyone. We will be having a special assembly next Friday morning and will be taking part in ‘Odd Socks’ day. Odd Socks Day is a chance for schools to celebrate Anti-Bullying Week in a positive way by asking pupils and staff to wear odd socks to school. There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or buy expensive costumes.
All you need to do to take part is wear odd socks, it could not be simpler!

World Book Day March 24
Thu 07 Mar 2024The children (and staff) have had the most wonderful time celebrating World Book Day this year. The children's outfits were incredible and we were so impressed with the amount of time and effort put into the costumes. Thank you for supporting your children in making a wooden spoon character/ character portrait. Hopefully your children will enjoy spending their £1 book token and remember, these can be used at the book fair that starts on 12th March at school.
Thank you to Mrs Orchard who was the driving force behind World Book Day and to Mrs Bowler who arranged for a very special visit from an editor who helped us understand how a book is story-lined, written, edited and then published - fascinating.

Toys workshop Year 1
Tue 06 Feb 2024Toys workshop
In History this term we have looked at toys through the ages. We looked at many toys
from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s in particular. We started our term with choosing our favourite
toy from a pile of toys and described it in brief using our adjectives. Then we moved on to
looking at toys that our parents or grandparents may have played with, from there we
compared modern toys with old toys and thought about their weight and materials. We
also discovered that many old toys were handmade and hand painted, making them
expensive, so rich people were more likely to have them. We realised that we are lucky to
have so many toys to play with due to them being cheaper to produce and for us to
