  • The Great Plastic Pick Up - The results!

    Fri 18 May 2018

Our plastic pick up was a huge success. We had a total of 75 bin bags of rubbish brought into school on Monday morning, 67 of which were recyclable.

These will all be collected by the council to go to the recycling site next week. The results of our hard work have been put on The Daily Mail Plastic Pick-Up website so please take a look and well done to all those who took part. Mrs B

Come and support Holtspur school stall at Beaconsfield Now! 2018

This family fun day has lots to offer. There are over 30 stalls to inspire and inform about many activities taking place in and around Beaconsfield. Sport, art, music, drama, care providers, animal welfare and more.

Come and cuddle a furry friend at the animal farm, ride on the railway, bounce on the bouncy castle - mum and dad also welcome. Hungry? Then enjoy the Scouts' barbecue or the Guides' refreshments and cakes.

As well as the High March girls' performance, there will be Butlers Court Maypole dancers, Wooburn Singers and short scenes from the Beaconsfield Theatres Together drama groups.

We look forward to seeing you there on May 12th 11am - 2pm at the Beaconsfield Rugby Club, Windsor End. Entry and parking free.

  • The Great Plastic Pick Up 11th - 13th May

    Fri 04 May 2018

On Friday 11th May, we will be sending home a black bin liner with your child to take part in the Great Plastic Pick Up. This is a national campaign being run over the course of the weekend of 11-13th May. We are also working with Beaconsfield Against Single use Plastic to clean up our community and this is a great opportunity to show we care. For more details, please use this link.

    http://www.greatplasticpickup.org/home/2684

We have already signed up as a school. So you will not need to register.

Please return the bags and leave them in the Darasa on the morning of 14th May. If we have collected enough plastic, we hope to win a visit by Chris Packham!

You are of course welcome to opt out of this activity – if so, just let the office know.

  • Community Card Scheme

    Fri 04 May 2018

On the 3rd of May, Dee, the Community Support Officer, came in to talk to Year 6 and Year 1 about personal safety, internet safety, road safety, and police management. We all found it very interesting and fascinating. After they had talked to us about all of the above we moved on to our community card scheme. This is a system where we take part in several community aspects to gain prizes. All Year 6 classes in Buckinghamshire are taking part to win a trip to LEGOLAND Windsor Resort. There are also individual prizes for the students who collect the most stickers. We are all very much enjoying it and are extremely anxious to know who is going to win. We have been doing the community card scheme for a while now yet nobody has completed all the tasks on the list. We thoroughly enjoyed Dee’s visit and can’t wait for her to come again!

  • MindUp update

    Fri 27 Apr 2018

Claire Farrell, our MindUp advisor, visited the school on Tuesday and spoke to staff and children. We are now ready to launch the 3rd and 4th part of the scheme over the course of this term.

Part 3 is all about positive psychology. There are 3 accompanying lessons to this:

    1. Perspective taking (looking at situations form different points of view)
    2. Choosing optimism (being a glass half-full rather than a half-empty person)
    3. Appreciating happy experiences – developing positive habits, learning to be grateful and focussing more on the positive things that happen than the negative.

Your children will be having these lessons over the next few weeks.

Please find below two links to videos that you may find useful for you and your children about how the brain learns and grows.

  • LOtC Silver Award features in the 'Hiya Bucks' magazine

    Fri 27 Apr 2018
We are so proud of our Silver mark award ...
  • Football victory for Holtspur!

    Fri 20 Apr 2018

Football Match - Holtspur School VS St Mary’s

Our victorious game started with Aaron in goal, Ben and Dan in defence. Tom, Casper and Nathan in midfield George just in front and then we had Leo in strike position. Our coach Charlotte gave us a motivating talk and before we knew it we were on the pitch.

Within a few minutes Casper had already scored an amazing goal. George crossed it into the box and Casper scored a half volley. Not much else happened the rest of the first half.

Once the second half started we had changed our line-up: George was put in goal, Dan was in defence with Alex, Tom remained in midfield with Aaron and Casper and Leo and Nathan were strikers. St Mary’s had a lot of chances on goal in the second half but luckily Daniel, Alex and George put up a great defence. After they took their shots, we caught them on the break and managed to counter attack. Aaron, the great runner he is, ran with the ball and crossed it to Casper once again and Casper missed his first but his second shot managed to find the back of the net, thus taking us to 2 – 0. After we had scored they were getting angry and careless with the ball and most of their shots were off target. This led us to win the match. After the game, Casper was awarded Man of the Match for his two goals and outstanding effort he put into the match.

  • Year 2 litter pickers!

    Fri 23 Mar 2018
In our LOtC session we were learning about how rubbish is bad for our environment, especially plastics. We litter picked in our school grounds and around the perimeter of the school, as you can see from the photographs we were very busy! We were really shocked at how much litter we found, our next step is to try to encourage others to pick up and recycle!
  • Sport Relief Day

    Fri 23 Mar 2018

It was great to see so many children dressed in either their sports wear or red clothing to support Sport Relief Day. Money raised from today’s Fun Food Friday will be towards this cause together with donations received through the school. Thank you all for your support.

Year 2 have been taking part this week in ‘The Daily Mile’. The Daily Mile is a social activity, wherein the children run or jog – at their own pace – in the fresh air with friends. Year 2 have been doing their mile every day and have really enjoyed the challenge. Well done everyone!!
